BE A MAKER by Katey Howes
When you hear “maker” do you automatically think STEM? Me too!
The beauty of this book is that it captures so much more. Making isn’t just about making cool art projects or science experiments, but it’s about making others happy, making a team and a community. It leads to great discussions on helping for intrinsic vs. extrinsic reasons, and also whether helping is something they want to do or were told to do.
I love this story because it ends with such a thought provoking question, “in a day of making choices, are you proud of what you made?”
Activity: Partner with any STEM team work challenge. I love my STEM cards from Carson Dellosa for ideas.
