A sample of books to use with individual students, small groups, and in class lessons to support good attendance habits.
“Totally Tardy Marty” by Eric Perl
Marty is totally tardy all the time. There’s always a reason he’s late and “Never Late Kate” is determined to help him get to school on time. Activity: This book partners perfectly with Savvy School Counselor’s attendance packets. Before reading I like to start with a game of “Washing the Elephant.”
“Tiger Tail” by Mike Boldt
This is such an adorable book to talk about first day jitters and being unique.
I like to partner this book with individual or classwide rewards.
You can also have students use construction paper and make their own tiger tails, bunny ears, or fox faces.

Idea: Send parent this digital flip chart on attendance.
