The beginning of the year is a busy time. We are setting up, scheduling, and meeting and greeting kiddos and their caregivers.
Whether you have 15 minutes or 30, here are some ideas on how you can introduce yourself and your role.

1. Hook

I love reading a book or showing a video to hook students in.
From books that explicitly explain our role, such as “A Chameleon’s Guide to School Counseling” and “Mrs. Joyce Gives The Best High Fives,” to books that explain qualities we possess or topics we teach, there are so many titles to choose from.
If you don’t want to read or are working with older students, consider making a quick TikTok or video to hook them in.
2. Teach

Consider including the following in your lesson:
- counseling domains we cover
- confidentiality and limits to confidentiality
- services we provide
- how students can self-refer
- appropriate referrals (problems they can solve themselves vs. times they may need you)
Review

There are so many fun ways to review, including:
- play a game like Jeopardy or Tic-Tac-Toe
- use an interactive brochure
- color sheets
- Scoot/Scramble
- Kahoot! or Blooket
