“Be Your Own Hero” by @lisakingcounselor and @nationalcenterforyouthissues is the story of Quinn and her school who are celebrating Hero Week at school. She finds ways to be her own inner hero!

What I love about this book are its diverse and positive characters. It’s the message of the values and qualities that can make anyone a hero.

I love the class yearbook page. How fun would it be to collaborate with your art teacher to replicate this idea and have students share who is a hero to them?
It’s a little lengthy so I’d probably share this book with classroom teachers who could really deep dive into the story or collaborate with them to use it to teach about diversity, character, empathy, and what makes someone a worthy role model.
